You are what you share

Oh, social media. How you've created abundant ways for people to find, share and read information. Everyday we are surrounded by status updates and articles. Lets look at this a little deeper though. What you share defines who you are.

Think about the people in your news feed that constantly complain, share negative articles and bash others. In your news feed, they've become "the negative ones" and when you see them in person, I bet you try to duck and run the other way. If you often shake your head at those posts, it may be time to eliminate them from your daily feed.

But then there are ones that you gravitate towards... they are positive ones that make you feel stronger and put a smile on your face. When you see their photo scroll up on your screen, you anxiously read their content because you know it's going to be something that makes a difference in your day.

People radiate energy. What goes out comes back in. Think about this with your own personal and business social media. What type of content are you sharing? Are you complaining about the weather or counting your blessings? Are you discounting other companies or praising the successes of wonderful ones?

Lets face it. We all have our days when nothing is going right. It's easy to brain dump on social media because it's a way to get frustrations out. It's good to release that energy, but what if it was done privately in a journal or talked out with a friend? Just remember that what you share is an extension of your personal and company brand. Remember the old saying that actions speak louder than words? While still true, on social media words speak louder than actions.

What do you want to be known for? What can you adjust in your status update that makes people gravitate towards you instead of ducking away?  Each day you are provided a blank space to tell people how you feel, where you're at and what you're doing. How will you use that blank space to fill the world with positive energy? Your posting energy is a choice.
